We appreciate you being
interested in our village with about 1 050 inhabitants.
Our small vinegrowing community is situated in the
Gräfenbach valley about 7 km away from the city of Bad
Kreuznach.
Gutenberg is below the Soonwald forest (south-eastern
part of the Hunsrück). The weather here is rather
constant with low rainfall ( about 480 mm per year).
Mostly the sun is shining. In a word:
“ Gutenberg – on the
sunny side of the world”
In the historic part of
the village ( officially first mentioned in 1248 )
you
can find pittoresque houses and vinegrowing estates. A
majestic ruin of the ancient castle rises above
Gutenberg. You easily can make a stop here when you
visit Bad Kreuznach, Bad Sobernheim, Idar-Oberstein, Bad
Münster am Stein or Bingen. Lots of vinegrowers offer
excellent vines – one more reason to come here.
On each second weekend in
September we celebrate our parish fair - A good chance
to get in contact to the inhabitants and for having a
good time.
Perhaps you keep time to get to know a typical
vinegrowing village in a tributary valley of the Nahe.
